We designed this fun and feminine wallpaper for a new coffee house in a quaint village location. The village has recently seen an upsurge in similar food establishments, with four such venues opening in the last year. For this reason it was important for the client to identify their niche in the market, and decided to do so by targeting the local ‘yummy mummy’ crowd, and offering a space for small children to play, and baby friendly facilities.
When it comes to interior design, its not always easy to simultaneously please both the discerning tastes of adults, and the curious minds of their kids, luckily this is something we have a lot of experience in at Kate Usher Studio.
So we set out to create a luxurious and friendly interior which was fun and playful, yet elegant and inviting at the same time. Working with limited floorspace, we also needed it to feel light and airy.
For the wallpaper, we created a range of quirky and naive illustrations based around the theme of good coffee and quality baking. We printed this pattern on a luxury, non woven paper which was not only metallic to reflect the light, but also scrubbable to protect from those sticky handprints!
We chose a colour scheme of plum, mauve, duck egg, charcoal and cream, and also reflected these tones in a bespoke seating solution for the window space, which also maximised on space.
