The Malings Phase Two

We were asked to create a bespoke wallpaper for an urban eco-housing development in the artsy Ouseburn Valley area of Newcastle Upon Tyne. The brief was to reflect the gritty, industrial yet creative nature of the surrounding area in the design guided by a contemporary colour palette of warm pinks, purple, olive green and mustard. Working with Xsite architecture, Kate approached the project with gusto. She spent time walking around Ouseburn with her digital camera, observing the industrial landmarks such as the Toffee Factory, the Tyne Bar and Seven Stories and also the not so significant details such as barbed fencing, weeds and graffiti covered walls.  She then developed the pattern for a digital wallpaper for the lounge of a four story townhouse show-home, along with co-ordinating cushions to compliment the Jamie Josef Fry custom made sofa. A limited number of these cushions and the wallpaper will soon be available to order from our online shop. If you have a similar project or would like a custom wallpaper or textile design for your residential or commercial space, then please contact us on 07446004449 to discuss your requirements.

Graham & Brown New Wave Collection

In 2014 Kate was selected to take part in a collaborative project with British wallpaper manufacturer Graham & Brown to produce a unique collection of wallpapers created by Britain’s most innovative and emerging surface designers. This bright and naive collaged pattern which we inventively named ‘Fishes’, was selected as one of the winning 13. It was put into mass production to be distributed around the world at the bargain price of just £20.00 per roll! The collective was launched at Tent London and is now available to buy from the Graham& Brown website and also through selected retail outlets. Get it here
